star wars was AMAZING!!!!  it was exactly what george lucas needed to do in order to save the series.  tons and tons of action, excellent progression from good to evil for anakin.  he even had some good lines in there.  my one complaint.  he did a horrible job with women in this movie.  a horrible job.  im used to strong women characters like princess leia.  padame was pretty strong in the first and second movies, but this movie... she was so out of it.  it was sad to see.  a stronger padame would have been a good addition to the movie. 

so mike and i got to the movie theater later than we wanted to since mom asked us to wrap some presents for her kids.  not that we minded much.  so we squeeze into a parking space (thank goodness for a tiny jeep!) and walk into the theater.  we see this huge line with all these really cool costumes.  oh boy.  thats the time were i started pulling out britt's cell phone number trying to see if we could mysteriously cut in line.  but then we realized that the huge line wasnt to get into the theaters at all!  it was just for the refreshments!  woohoo!  so we walked to our theater and had no problem getting in.  we walk in and joe brushes past us "hey joe!"  that character was waiting to get in for 35 hours!!!  crazy nut!!!!  he got excellent seats though, so i guess it paid off.  we kept walking... "hey ryan!"  he too was there with some friends chatting happily away.  so then mike and i look around for some open seats... its a huge theater but its almost packed.  but we got some closer to the font, but with a decent view of the huge screen.  got our seats... i tried calling britt but someone didnt answer her cell phone... *tear*  i feel so rejected.  hehehehe.  then joe came and talked to us for a while and then *star wars music begins to play*... previews!  and more previews and more previews.  couple looked good... some looked... not so good.  and then... *star wars music*  STAR WARS!!!  oooh baby.  it was good. 

so i got to bed around three fifteen last night.  ahhh...  what an incredible night.  good movie.  i recommmend it.

Whatever... the movie was perfect the way it was. Besides Padme didn't have any real power to begin with... she only thought she did. The senate and Chancellor had most of the power.

sure she didnt have a ton of power... power is not always the sum of a person's strength. she was a strong character though, but in this one, she was what the jedi would call "weak minded" or easily manipulated. it was pathetic. and not even star wars reaches the level of perfection. i find it personally benefical to identify the strengths and weaknesses in a movie so that i will appreciate a truely fine film when it comes along. would this third movie be such the hit if the other two were also well done? probably not. i know i went into this movie full of hope, but also filled with the realistic notion that george lucas failed to provide a good movie in two tries. thankfull the third time was the charm. i did enjoy this movie. i was disappointed that padme wasnt a stronger character and that there werent any women to fill that hole. maybe im weird, but i find fiction a lot more enjoyable when there are heros of both genders... even lotr which had a majority of male characters had strong women characters that provided a balance. would lotr have been just as good if eowyn and arwen were weak and easily manipulated? no. the battle scenes would still have rocked, but it would have missed an important element. so... i probably over-reacted to your disagreement... but i enjoy being right. ;)

Mr. or Mrs. (or perhaps Miss) Anonymous, if you desire to argue such a topic with a female, you must first understand the essence of argument. An argument cannot be made in two or three sentences. Lom's reply to you is how your argument should have been presented. Provide examples from the films to support your arguments. For instance, Padme returns to Naboo against the wishes of everyone except Palpatine and manages to save the day even though she drags her Jedi protectors through as much danger as she can (Qui-gon dies, lest we forget). Such an argument can be supported. Perhaps, if you read this and have a spark of intelligence, you will learn from this and be able to create strong, supported, and lasting arguments. lom, i agree with you about padme...i sort of thought that as i watched the movie. she just sort of sat around...but i did feel terrible for her when she realised anakin was evil...*sob* of course that's what she gets for falling for anakin instead of obi-wan...

thats what she gets for falling for a jedi in general. im quite annoyed with how her character was written. she should have known something was up a lot sooner than she did. and you're right. she just sat there. oy. lol oh well. good movie anywho
